Senior Tax Accountant | Funds

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a prominent financial services firm to find an outstanding Senior Tax Accountant. Reporting directly to the Tax Operations Manager, this role is responsible for supporting client deliverables, transitions, and project-related tasks within the Tax Services team. The Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in preparing unit trust distributions, detailed taxable income calculations, BAS returns, and other tax reports. Additionally, they will contribute to process testing, template development, updates to standard operating procedures, client transitions, and various projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of tax reporting obligations.
  • Preparing and reviewing tax calculations and financial reports.
  • Calculating and finalising distributions, superannuation fund tax liabilities, and tax returns.
  • Developing and reviewing client reporting templates.
  • Updating and managing client tax profiles and security static data for reporting accuracy.
  • Addressing and resolving client inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Overseeing client relationships with a focus on tax reporting requirements.
  • Managing and maintaining tax reporting systems, frameworks, and templates.
  • Implementing tax process controls and mitigating associated risks.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to tax accountants on complex tax calculations and returns.

Criteria:

  • 3+ years post qualification experience
  • CA/CPA/ACCA qualified
  • Strong understanding of tax accounting principles applicable to financial instruments, trusts, and superannuation funds.
  • Expertise in fund accounting, financial reporting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills
  • Energetic, astute and motivated
