Senior Payroll Officer

MARS are partnering with a prestigious educational institution dedicated to academic excellence, who are looking to hire a Senior Payroll Officer to join them on a 12M FTC. The Senior Payroll Officer will take the lead in delivering comprehensive payroll insights, interpreting policies, processing payroll, and ensuring legislative compliance to provide high-quality, consistent, and efficient payroll support.

The Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for resolving payroll-related issues.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Finance & Payroll Officer on pay reviews, interpretation queries, and act as a backup during busy periods or leave.
  • Review and implement changes to pay rates, calculations, and regulatory updates.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of payroll balance sheet lines.
  • Calculate annual leave, long service leave, and associated on-costs monthly.
  • Handle complex payroll tasks and address sensitive or contentious issues.
  • Prepare PAYG, Single Touch Payroll, and other tax payments for remittance to the ATO.
  • Manage salary sacrifice arrangements with the school's third-party salary packaging provider.
  • Ensure all superannuation liabilities are paid by the required deadlines.
  • Perform ad-hoc calculations, including termination, redundancy, long service, parental, and leave loading, as needed.

The Requirements:

  • You must have experience in processing payroll in the Education sector.
  • A Working with Children Check
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with MS Excel and large ERP systems.
  • Experience in a hands-on role with high levels of attention to detail.

To Note:

  • They operate a flexible work from home policy of 2 days from home per week.
  • Lunch provided every day during term time.
  • Public transport located close by.
  • Full time, 8am-4pm.
  • Shorter notice periods will be highly favoured.
