Senior Internal Auditor

Seeking an experienced Senior Internal Auditor to provide independent, risk-based assurance and advisory services.

Mars Recruitment is seeking a highly-experienced Internal Auditor to join a leading team in NSW. Reporting directly to the Head of Internal Audit, you will undertake Internal Audit engagements, ensuring effective internal controls are in place and complied with according to APRA standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate internal audits, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, and best practices.

  • Assist in the development and execution of the three-year internal audit plan, in collaboration with the Head of Internal Audit.

  • Perform independent internal audit fieldwork, providing insights on risk management, governance, and operational efficiency.

  • Develop and present audit findings, working with business leaders to implement effective corrective actions.

  • Partner with external auditors to ensure comprehensive and efficient audit coverage.

  • Provide advisory services on risk management, compliance, and fraud prevention.

  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in internal audit, risk, or compliance roles.

  • Professional membership with CA, CPA, IIA, or RMIA preferred.

  • Experience within the insurance industry or APRA-regulated entities (desirable).

  • Proactive in approach and solutions-driven.

  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven expertise in risk and control assessment, business improvement, and strategic advisory.

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills at the management level.

  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking.

  • Professional integrity, independence, and the courage to challenge the status quo.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
