About the Role

Are you a skilled and experienced Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse seeking an exciting new opportunity?

Grafton Base Hospital in NSW is looking for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse with Australian Triage experience, Advanced Life Support (ALS), and In-Charge experience to join their team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy and dynamic ED, providing high-quality care to a wide range of patients.

In this role, you will be responsible for triaging patients, leading the clinical team during shifts, and providing high-level nursing care in a fast-paced emergency environment

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients using the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS), determining the urgency of care required based on clinical presentation.
• Provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) during resuscitation and critical care situations, ensuring the delivery of life-saving interventions.
• Take on In-Charge duties, managing the ED team during shifts and ensuring efficient and safe care delivery.
• Supervise and mentor junior nurses, providing leadership, support, and guidance in clinical decision-making.
• Maintain clear and accurate patient records, documenting triage assessments, interventions, and patient progress.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during stressful and critical situations.
• Ensure that patients receive appropriate pain management, intravenous fluids, and medications per established hospital protocols.
• Monitor deteriorating patients, escalating care when necessary and coordinating with other members of the healthcare team.
• Assist with other clinical procedures as required, including wound care, suturing, and catheterisation.

Essential Criteria

• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
• Proven experience in Emergency Department nursing and Australian Triage.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification and ability to provide resuscitation care in critical situations.
• In-Charge nursing experience, with the ability to manage and support a team during shifts.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide leadership and collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise patient care in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work autonomously while maintaining team cohesion and patient-centred care.
• Current or eligible for NSW Health Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
• National Police Clearance (Must be within 3 years).
