Mars Recruitment is currently seeking experienced Registered Midwives for various locum contracts across NSW.
If you're happy to travel to regional NSW, and you are available for a contract in the next few weeks, we want to hear from you! We are looking for midwives with a minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience to take on a short-term contract across Southern NSW.
Is this contract right for you?
As a Registered Midwife, you will be working full-time hours on a rotating roster during your contract, whether it's for 12 or 13 weeks. You will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional care, support, and treatment across multiple wards, including postnatal and antenatal support. As well as building trust and rapport with patients, supporting their wellbeing, and providing education and guidance to their families are key aspects of your role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic care and support to women during pregnancy, labour birth, and postnatal periods.
  • Conduct antenatal assessments, health checks, and provide pregnancy education to expectant mothers.
  • Assist with birthing plans and manage labour processes in various settings.
  • Monitor fetal development and maternal well-being, ensuring timely medical intervention if needed.
  • Offer emotional support, guidance, and counselling to new mothers and their families.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive maternal care.
  • Educate parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.


Further details:

  • Up to $54.56 per Hour + Super (with a Statement of Service required)
  • Accommodation: Provided by the facility
  • Travel: Reimbursed per KM if driving, or Bus/Flights booked directly
  • Schedule: 38 hours per week with additional hours available at casual rates


Essential requirements:

  • Unrestricted AHPRA registration
  • Full working rights in Australia (we are unable to offer sponsorship/visas for these roles)
  • Credentialed Bachelor of Midwifery/Nursing Degree
  • NSW WWCC (or willingness to obtain)
  • Minimum of 2 years postgraduate midwifery experience
  • Car and driver's licence (case by case consideration for those without)

  • Offer emotional support, guidance, and counseling to new mothers and their families.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive maternal care.
  • Educate parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient progress, delivery outcomes, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, policies, and legal requirements for maternal and newborn health.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Proven experience in antenatal, labor, and postnatal care.
  • Strong clinical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to diverse populations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of childbirth practices, breastfeeding, and maternal health trends.
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (preferred).
  • Availability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and nights.

AU$40 - AU$50 per hour + + super + flighs & accomm
