Position Overview:
The Payroll Officer will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all staff members across multiple locations. This role is crucial to maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and fostering a positive work environment for employees. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and experience working within a fast-paced hospitality or similar environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Process end-to-end payroll for all staff members in compliance with company policies and relevant award agreements.
Ensure accuracy of timesheets, pay rates, and deductions.
Maintain employee records and ensure data is kept up-to-date in the payroll system.
Liaise with managers and department heads to address payroll inquiries and resolve issues.
Calculate and manage leave accruals, superannuation, tax deductions, and other entitlements.
Prepare and lodge accurate payroll tax and other statutory reports, including superannuation and WorkCover.
Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive payroll data with discretion.
Assist with payroll-related audits and internal compliance checks.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems.
Provide payroll-related support during periods of growth or change within the organization.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in the hospitality or retail sector.
Strong understanding of payroll systems and software (experience with Xero, MYOB, or similar systems is highly desirable).
Knowledge of relevant Australian payroll legislation, including the Fair Work Act, Awards, and EBA compliance.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll data.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with staff and management.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with discretion.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or certifications in payroll or accounting are advantageous.
