Mental Health Nurse – Locum

Opportunity for a locum mental health nurse to join an established team in southern NSW.
MARS Recruitment is currently seeking a Mental Health Nurse for an inpatient locum position in regional NSW. This full-time role offers accommodation and travel and a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in a dynamic setting

Your new role:

This Mental Health service ensures timely access to specialised mental health support for individuals experiencing acute mental health issues. As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will deliver recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care, offering patients equitable and prompt assistance to connect them with mental health, drug, and alcohol services. Your role will involve conducting mental health assessments and providing virtual brief intervention support to patient recovery and rehabilitation.

This position is an ASAP commencement and can be a locum legnth from 3-6 months with potential to extend. 38 hours per week - rotating roster

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications and current registration with AHPRA for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
  • At least 1 years' experience working professionally post attaining tertiary qualification and preferably a minimum of 1 year experience working in a mental health setting OR demonstrated experience in the provision of contemporary clinical mental health practice including conducting mental health assessments, and the provision of evidence-based interventions for people who are experiencing mental illness/distress, acute psychological distress and alcohol and other drug issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding off current national and state mental health initiatives and strategic directions.
  • Understanding of the concept and principles of mental health rehabilitation and recovery and demonstrated experience and skills using a collaborative, strengths-based approach to the care of mental health consumers.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and other stakeholders, and a demonstrated high-level proficiency in computer literacy.
  • Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' licence and own reliable transport
  • 2 references will be required.
  • Valid WWCC and NPC
