Management Accountant

MARS are partnering with a forward-thinking team, in a company committed to making a positive impact in the health and wellness industry. This is a permanent opportunity for a public practice trained and proactive individual to join a small yet vibrant team, in a Management Accountant role.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing month-end accounting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting.

With flexible work arrangements, you can choose to work at one of the company's offices in Brisbane or Byron Bay, giving you the best of both worlds!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, helping guide decision-making and supporting strategic financial planning across the business.
  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring all reconciliations, journal entries, and financial records are accurate and up to date.
  • Manage payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance, while providing clear, concise payroll reporting.
  • Prepare and lodge compliance reports, including BAS, Payroll Tax, and Work Cover, ensuring all statutory obligations are met.
  • Develop and manage budgets that align with business goals and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Assist with audits and support the company's tax compliance efforts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement cost-effective financial policies and strategies, while mitigating financial risks.
  • Maintain financial records with precision, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive financial information.

About You:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree and CA/CPA qualification.
  • 4+ years within public practice (audit, tax, advisory) with a strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with inventory management accounting is advantageous.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel - Xero is beneficial.
  • A high level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, always looking for ways to optimise processes and contribute to the company's growth and success.

To Note:

  • Experience in a Big 4 or Mid-Tier chartered firm is essential.
  • They operate a hybrid working model of 2-3 days in their Byron Bay or Brisbane office.
  • Only Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents or long-term visa holders will be considered for this role.
