The Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) is a not-for-profit leader in integrity, quality, and sustainability services for the Australian wool industry. Through programs like the Australian Wool Sustainability Scheme (AWSS) and innovative traceability platforms WoolClip and eBale, AWEX is shaping the future of wool certification and supply chain transparency and efficiency.

Your Role - Expanding Industry Engagement with Sustainability & Digital Traceability

AWEX is seeking a dynamic Head of Business Development to lead the national sales strategy for AWSS and WoolClip/eBale. This isn't just another sales role - it's an opportunity to work alongside wool brokers, helping them adopt sustainability and traceability solutions that help secure the future of their industry. Leading a team of two Business Development Executives, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring AWEX's programs become the industry standard for efficiency, market access and compliance - helping regional wool growers and sellers thrive in an increasingly competitive global market.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Drive Industry Adoption: Develop and execute strategies to increase uptake of AWSS, WoolClip, and eBale among wool brokers.
  • Engage with Key Stakeholders: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, broker associations, and key industry groups.
  • Optimise Performance & Strategy: Track key sales and adoption metrics, adjusting strategies based on insights from brokers and industry feedback.
  • Collaborate & Innovate: Work closely with AWEX's marketing and leadership teams to align solutions with industry needs.
  • Lead & Inspire: Mentor and manage two Business Development Executives, ensuring strong engagement and execution of AWEX's national strategy.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in sales, business development, or account management, ideally in agriculture, sustainability, or supply chain sectors.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven success in selling certification programs or digital platforms in a B2B environment.
  • A results-driven mindset with a passion for hitting targets and driving industry adoption.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for supporting Australian agriculture.
  • Willingness to travel regionally to connect with brokers and industry stakeholders.
