Senior Finance Manager

Join a high performing and established organisation, managing the financial control function and a small team of 3 direct reports.

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a well-known and highly respected organisation seeking a driven, commercially minded Senior Finance Manager to join their financial control function.

In this role, you will take ownership of financial reporting, management reporting, statutory reporting, board reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring the organisation's financial health and strategic direction. Leading a small team of high-performing Senior Accountants and Accountants, you will provide mentorship, training, and professional development to enhance team capability.

The Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly management reporting process, ensuring accurate analysis and insightful commentaries.
  • Manage the month-end close process, including reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and preparing management reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing strategic recommendations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training.
  • Oversee financial and statutory reporting deliverables, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Deliver annual financial and management reports within established deadlines.
  • Take a proactive, hands-on approach to resolving finance-related matters across the business.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, implementing best practices and influencing key stakeholders.

The Requirements:

  • Degree educated and CA/CPA qualified with substantial experience in commercial finance function.
  • Proven experience in a people management role with the ability to mentor, coach and develop direct reports.
  • Sound technical accounting skills and AASB/IFRS knowledge.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise and build rapport with senior stakeholders and direct reports.
  • Experience working with complex structures and transactions.
  • Enthusiastic, eager to acquire new knowledge and have a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven ability to meeting tight reporting deadlines.
  • Comfortable and confident working in a hands-on role.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP systems - TM1 is beneficial.

  • They offer 1 day work from home after 3 months in the role.
  • Only CA/CPA qualified candidates with commercial experience will be considered for this role.
  • Only Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered.
