ED Registered Nurse - (Contract Position)
Location: Crookwell District Hospital, NSW Health
Position: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-term Contract
Package: Flexible base rate DOE + Super + Casual Loading + Shift Penalties + Fully covered travel and accommodation + Meal allowances
Hours per Week: Minimum of 38 hours per week

About the Role:
Are you an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse looking for a contract opportunity?
Crookwell District Hospital in NSW is seeking an Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse with competencies in cannulation, ALS, and Triage. As part of the ED team, you will be responsible for delivering critical care in an emergency setting, ensuring patient safety and providing high-quality nursing care across a range of emergencies.
In this fast-paced and rewarding role, you will work collaboratively with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to assess, prioritise, and manage patients according to the severity of their conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and triage patients using the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS) to determine urgency of care.
  • Provide immediate life-saving interventions for critically ill or injured patients.
  • Cannulate patients as required for intravenous access, administering fluids and medications as per clinical protocols.
  • Perform Advanced Life Support (ALS) as part of the resuscitation team for critically unwell or injured patients.
  • Deliver post-resuscitation care and monitor patients as they stabilise.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of triage assessments, interventions, and care provided.
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and national standards for emergency nursing practice.
  • Administer medications, pain relief, and IV fluids according to established hospital protocols.
  • Manage deteriorating patients, escalating care when necessary.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families in high-stress situations.

    Essential Criteria:
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
  • Demonstrated experience in Emergency Department nursing.
  • Triage certificate and experience in patient prioritisation.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification and proven experience in providing resuscitation.
  • Cannulation skills and ability to manage IV access in critical care settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and support a team in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions under pressure.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and maintaining high clinical standards.
  • Current or eligible for NSW Health Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • National Police Clearance (Must be within 3 years).
