Theatre Registered Nurse - (Contract Position)
Location: South East Regional Hospital, NSW Health
Position: Theatre Registered Nurse
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-term Contract
Package: Flexible base rate DOE + Super + Casual Loading + Shift Penalties + Fully covered travel and accommodation + Meal allowances
Hours per Week: Minimum of 38 hours per week

About the Role:
Are you a Theatre Registered Nurse with a passion for delivering high-quality perioperative care? Our client in Bega NSW is looking for a skilled Theatre Registered Nurse to join their theatre team. The role requires competencies in cannulation, ventilation, scrub, and scout. You will be providing patient-centred care in a variety of surgical specialties, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients before, during, and after surgery. As a Theatre Registered Nurse, you will be part of a supportive and dynamic team in a fast-paced theatre environment, working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to deliver the best possible outcomes for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Perform scrub and scout duties to support the surgical team, ensuring sterile equipment and materials are ready for use.
  • Cannulate patients as required for intravenous access, administering medications and fluids per surgical protocols.
  • Assist in ventilation management during anaesthesia, monitoring patient respiration and supporting ventilation as needed.
  • Ensure the operating theatre is properly set up and that all instruments are sterile and ready for use.
  • Monitor vital signs during surgery and escalate any changes in condition to the surgical team.
  • Document patient care accurately and promptly in line with hospital protocols.
  • Maintain high standards of infection control and adhere to hospital policies regarding safety and patient care.
  • Provide post-operative recovery care for patients, monitoring them as they wake from anaesthesia.
    Essential Criteria:
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
  • Proven experience in theatre nursing, including scrub, scout, cannulation, and ventilation.
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Current National Police Check (must be within 3 years).
  • NSW Health Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Compliance with NSW Health vaccination requirements.
