Senior Group Accountant

Opportunity to join a high performing and established top 100 ASX listed organisation, focusing on group financial reporting and advisory.

MARS are proudly working with an ASX Top 100 organisation with a strong brand name and presence across Australia. They're looking to hire a switched on and capable Senior Group Accountant to join their high-performing team, with a focus on Group Reporting and Advisory.

The Role:

The role itself will be responsible for the group reporting and consolidations, statutory reporting, accounting advisory, M&A transaction support and governance of accounting policies.

The role will have coverage across the Group and the main duties include:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports for board-level review, providing strategic insights into key financial judgements and decisions.
  • Provide practical advice on complex transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and disposals, utilising your technical expertise and business acumen.
  • Collaborate with the sustainability reporting team to design and implement frameworks that ensure compliance with current and emerging ESG reporting requirements.
  • Lead the development and refinement of enterprise-wide accounting policies to ensure they remain aligned with the evolving needs of the business.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the business, ensuring effective communication and alignment on financial matters.
  • Lead reporting-related projects, managing them from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project scope.
  • Contribute to the professional development of the broader finance team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to streamline the audit process and ensure financial reporting meets all required standards.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, ensuring financial reporting accurately reflects sector-specific challenges and opportunities.

The Requirements:

  • Degree holder and CA/CPA qualified with 4+ years relevant experience.
  • Must come from a Big 4/Mid-Tier firm or a large and listed commercial environment (essential).
  • Exposure to technical accounting, accounting policies and/or M&A transactions is beneficial.
  • Significant technical exposure/experience in IFRS.
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and ERP systems - SAP is desirable.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to liaise with senior stakeholders.

To Note:

  • They operate a hybrid working model of 3 days in the office, 2 days from home.
  • Must have a Big 4/Mid-Tier background or come from a large and listed commercial organisation.
  • Only Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered for this role.
